Komodo Island, The Seven New Wonders of The World

Komodo Island is an Indonesian island located at the westernmost tip of East Nusa Tenggara Province, which borders with the West Nusa Tenggara Province with an area of 1817 km ². This island is a habitat for native animals and komodo dragons are also national parks. It is exactly at Komodo district, West Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.


On the island these animals live and breed dragons to progressively increase in number from year to year. Komodo has a latin name of Varanus komodoensis and local name "Ora" which means giant lizard. The island also includes one of the seven new wonders of the world. In this island there are about 1300 male Komodo dragon. Coupled with the other islands, such as Rinca Island and Gili Motang Island, their numbers totaled about 2500 tails, until August 2009.

Descriptions of real life dragons

Komodo has a body length of 2-3 feet, can weigh up to 70-100 pounds. The animals enjoy hot and dry places to live. It lives in the savanna or tropical forest habitat in lower elevations. When night falls, dragons nest in the holes with in 1-3 feet while keeping their body heat at night.
